Roger Spendlove
Can any tell me what is the ASA/ISO exposure value of the Panasonic AGX-100 camera? Also, with the CineGamma mode turned on, what kind of latitude range (in f-stops) can this camera record? Thanks! Roger Spendlove
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted July 11, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted July 11, 2004 I tested the DVX100 when it first came out and it was about 320 to 400 ASA at 0db with the shutter at 1/48th of a second. I'm not sure there is any greater latitude with Cine-Like Gamma -- it's basically a flatter (i.e. lower contrast) response to light, not curved but straight, BUT with no knee compression, which is why some recommend you underexpose slightly when in Cine-Like Gamma. Depending on the subject matter, you maye gain more high-end information using Normal or Low Gamma, which have some knee compression.
Neal Fredericks
i recently shot a project on the DVX100 (24p) and rated it at 400 ASA...I was very happy to see my meter and the camera/monitor coming in line with each other... i was happy with the results... Roger Spendlove
Thank you both very much for your answers and additional information. I'll go with an ASA 400 on my meters and compare results with my monitor. I may be able to squeeze in a camera test this week before we begin shooting next Saturday. If I discover anything interesting, I'll post our findings here. Thanks!
