Zachary Vex
I recently acquired a few Babys and need sets of scrims and barn doors for them. I've been watching eBay but nothing seems to be quite the right size... mine look to have 6-5/8" holders. Any suggestions? I'm in Minneapolis, and we have Cinequipt and LightsOn here, but their websites don't seem to indicate that they carry them (although they probably do)... and I've found that their prices can be a bit steep on accessories. Also, I've heard that older lights can have asbestos wiring. Can someone kindly post a picture of what asbestos wiring looks like so I can compare it to what I've got? Thanks in advance! Zachary Vex
Thanks so much, Tim. Luckily, my wires have a weaved cover, totally unlike the asbestos covered-type. So any ideas for buying baby scrims?
Shane Bartlett
Thanks so much, Tim. Luckily, my wires have a weaved cover, totally unlike the asbestos covered-type. So any ideas for buying baby scrims? Try Film Tools. They have MSE wire scrims and scrim sets in a variety of sizes (including 6-5/8"), and a handy compatibility chart you can use to make sure you are buying the right size. A little pricey, but so far I have rarely seen a better deal on ebay. You can wait months for the right size to come up, only to find a starting bid of $9.99 and some bozo willing to bid $20 with 5 days left. compatibility chart: http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/cinemasuppl...EScrimTable.pdf all scrim sizes: http://cinemasupplies.stores.yahoo.net/wirscrimforl.html 6-5/8": http://cinemasupplies.stores.yahoo.net/658wirdifscr.html Film Tools website: http://cinemasupplies.stores.yahoo.net/ I've purchased a few items from Film Tools, and they ship fast, with good packaging. --
timHealy
If they are Mole Richardson babies why not check with them in Hollywood. I wouldn't be surprised if they charged top dollar though. Do you know any rental houses that may buy something for you at cost? Best Tim
Zachary Vex
Try Film Tools. Thanks! I did, and they're on their way. Got some gel frames too.
Zachary Vex
Okay, my scrims are on the way, but I still need barndoors (4-way or better) for my baby solarspots... 3 of them. Any ideas? I'm not finding them on eBay or any of the online stores that I've researched.
