Premium Member Francis Kuhn Posted January 19, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted January 19, 2007 Just wondering if anyone has used one of these Single 8 cameras like the Fujica models. I saw the smallformat Magazine post in this Forum and it has me wondering if there's any real difference in image quality over a good-quality Super 8 camera? Can't seem to find much using the search. Matthew Buick
The registration in Single 8 cameras is far superior, I'm not sure about lenses if that's what you mean, there is much less support for the Single 8 format. Infact Fuji actually had plans to scrap it until it was brought back by popular demand. Thanks for reading this.
Premium Member Alessandro Machi Posted January 21, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted January 21, 2007 Single-8 is a cool format. I think you can find many compelling reasons for Single-8 by going to http://www.single8film.com/ I prefer Super-8 because there are so many different cameras that I think are a filmmakers dream to work with. Really steady footage. Unlimited backwind ability. Real pressure plate. BUT a lot of the cheaper Single 8 cameras have a 220 degree shutter which is great for low light but will yield soft images unless NOTHING is moving in frame.
