hello

I will shoot a tv show this week and there is one shot which has to be in B&W and only the blood of one actor must look red (like schindleres list), w don't have much options in post so i would like to get that look (or close to it) useing the camera's CCU, does anyone has a good preset for that? ofcorse the only red thing on the set will be the blood.

thanks

mosh

The setups will vary from camera model to camera model. You can do it using the multi matrix and a vector scope - having a set up chart will help. Basically you reduce the colour saturation until they're a tight bundle in the centre of the scope - it's a slow adjustment reducing each colour, so they don't cross over on the scope as you're pulling them down. Then adjust the red channel.

Then adjust the red channel.

Just be clear that we're talking about "red" in a matrix that can adjust hue and saturation, not the "Red channel" as in RGB. You can't adjust saturation with RGB levels. You'd just end up with a red-tinted image instead of a black and white image with a red subject in it.

Sometimes it can be tough to separate out red from the red component in fleshtones. You'll probably have to narrow the range or "width" quite a bit.

Yes, the red in the matrix.
