Sir Alvin Ekarma
Can this be done? Will the aperture work correctly? Yup. Standard operating procedure. Make sure the lens is set to Manual and you're all set.
Patrick Cooper
Ive got a takumar 200mm and a tamron 400mm and they work fine on the K3. The only thing is that the takumar won't focus on infinity so I might have to get that lens adjusted by an expert oneday.
Stacy R Fillion
"Make sure the lens is set to Manual and you're all set." I assume you meant automatic. Is there some sort of attachment so that you can set the aperture manually Edited April 21, 2007 by S.R.Fillion

Is there some sort of attachment so that you can set the aperture manually My M42 lenses have a switch near the base and markings for Manual (M) and Automatic (A). Most M42 lenses have this but if they're the automatic kind w/ a pin, you need to disable that.
Premium Member Charles MacDonald Posted April 22, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted April 22, 2007 I assume you meant automatic. NOPE MANUAL. In the still camera the lens is stopped down by a pin in the back just before the shot, this will not work for movies, so the lens must be run on manual so it is stopped down all the time. A few of the lenes don't have the manual setting so they must either be modified or traded. Noote that the lenses for the Sportmatic f have the switch but it will not go into manual Unless a small pin near the threads is pressed in. I am not sure if the K-3 will press this pin. You may have to press it, and set the lens on manual beofre mounting it on the camera.
