My 4056 certainly does and that's the same body as your 3056.

I bought my 3056 from germany on ebay for around £30. It has served me very well...although now it has a really annoying habit of when it the aperture corrects itself in auto mode a really nasty creaking sound can be heard....less creaking more like something choking. Theres a nicer model on ebay at the moment and was wondering whether its worth the risk?

I wouldn't trust that a "new" camera you buy is in perfect condition either. The squeeky, choking sound is a common problem to the nizo sound models, and it probably comes from loose/old/squeeky/notsogood rubber belts inside the camera. This might also be the problem with the next sound nizo you buy, unless you have the sellers garanty that it doesn't make these sounds.

I'm going to send one of my nizos for repair to german repairman Kurt Sacherl. That will cost a bit, probably more than buying another camera, but at least I will have a working, newly serviced nizo rather than two squeeky ones.

My website is not the merzbarn one, but this:

The Free Smallfilm Manuals list - http://www.super8.no/manuals.html - Free 8 mm and 16 mm camera and equipment manuals.

thats a nice site you have there, lots and lots of manuals!

Would the rubber belt that you speak of be easy to fix? Have you ever tried DIY on a Nizo? perhaps it is a bad idea...

I can empathize with wanting to fix it oneself but if you can actually get it serviced, and seviced well, just hold out for more money when you sell it, and if you don't sell it than as long as it worked properly after servicing you will get your money's worth over time.
