Premium Member Max Jacoby Posted August 31, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted August 31, 2007 Kind of narrows down the choice of rental companies in the UK. And Panavision gets even more anamorphic lenses...

Charlie Peich
Hollywood Reporter: "of the deal with Panavision, which pioneered the single lens reflex movie camera." Really, I didn't realize that that. Will this mean that Panavision will now own more Arri cameras than Pana cameras?
Premium Member Max Jacoby Posted August 31, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted August 31, 2007 Will this mean that Panavision will now own more Arri cameras than Pana cameras? I think this has been the case before already. As far as I know Panavision is the company which owns the most Arri cameras anyway. For cameras like the 435 and 235 Panavision never designed an equivalent for instance, hence why they offer them with a PV mount.
Premium Member Adam Frisch FSF Posted August 31, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted August 31, 2007 Panavision recently bought AFM Lighting in England, which was one of the three big lighting rental companies. They already own Lee Lighting, so this narrows down the choices to basically two major rental houses for the UK lighting market: Panavision and Arri. And that's not a good thing.
