AFAIK a video tap is the same thing as a video assist, just a way of adding a preview video out capability to your film camera. I have never heard the term video top. Maybe it is used for taps that prohibit looking through the finder at the same time? A video door is applicable to cameras where the viewfinder is integrated into the door I think. Examples would be the Arri II or Arri 16 ST. If you want to add a video tap to these cameras you just switch the door... People please correct me if any of the above is wrong! Most of the times it is integrated in the camera. a videotop is the replacement of the optical viewfinder of a filmcamera by a just-video-top or a blank-top to decrease wheight: http://www.pstechnik.de/en/35-bl-evolution...st-videotop.php videodoor: The older camera's did not have a videotap.
