Richardson Leao
Hi all, just a small doubt about hd telecine. Up to now, I haven't seen any festival taking HD tapes as a final screening format. So, the reason for having a HD transfer is to get a digital intermidiate? Many thanks! Richardson

Richardson 4:4:4 HD can be a lower-budget digital intermediate format but that's not the most common reason one transfers to HD. Sundance requires 60i HDCAM tapes for digital projection. Some of the other big festivals use HD tapes for digital projection too (maybe Toronto, for example, or Cannes, I don't know.) A HD transfer, usually 4:2:2, will be necessary for HD broadcast purposes. A HD master can make good PAL and NTSC submasters, rather than make separate PAL and NTSC transfers.
