Dominic Ross Wilcher Posted January 26, 2008 Share Posted January 26, 2008 I just recently got home from Iraq ( I was a combat medic in the army ) and I am ready to get my own production/film company started. Im pretty much just posting this to hopefully get some replies from all the members here who are more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to cinematography. I have a pretty good movie I would like to film that me and two other people have come up with. We worked on while we were in iraq together and spent oh I'd say fifteen months coming up with it. I just need the "How to" to get it done now. Any topics that could help me get started, like where to get any and every item I will need to film a good movie (best cameras, lenses, lighting, props, permits to film, and blank firing weapons of all types) and most of all, how to get your movie heard about and seen. Go to My Controls to edit it. Thanks. Unfortunately, it's hard to make decisions in the abstract. Not only does the story itself suggest what format, lenses, etc. to use, but what end destination is a factor, and most of all, BUDGET is a factor, i.e. how much do you have to spend on this short film, how long is this short film, and where and how do you plan on showing it? Find a good Producer/ Production Manager. They will walk you through the Process and let you know if it can be done for your Budget. They will also show you where the 'pitfalls' are. There is simply way way too much information to impart to you. I have been in the 'Business' for over twenty years and still continue to learn. If you have the Story... and a Budget (Funds)... seek a Producer/ Production Manager. Best of Luck.. we need new Filmmakers! p.s. Thank you for your Service!
