Saul Rodgar Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Hi, is there any quality/sharpness lost when using the adapter?/ i have a 100 POE to use on a rex 5, thanks!! I have heard that no matter what, the image quality wil be compromised (however slightly) when using lens adapters, generally speaking. However, I have never had any issues with the ones I own or have used (c mount to nikon/ canon, eclair ACL mount to bayonet/ PL). So I guess it is case to case scenario. On mine the quality and sharpness remains top notch. But understand, I don't own Bolexes nor do I use them, so I really can't say about YOUR particular case scenario. If you are talking to an Arri Bayonet to c-mount adapter, please, where did you find it and how much was it? If you don't mind my asking, I have been looking for one of those for a while and ebay has not had any that I have found. . .

If it's just a mechanical mount adapter -- no glass in it -- then the only issue is whether it gets the lens in the right place, back focal distance and on axis. Get those right, and there are no losses. Adapters such as tele extenders get you into optical quality issues. -- J.S.
