Easy way to chop DV files

Hi,

 

This sounds like a silly question I'm sure but it's been years since I worked in production and I'm just getting back into it so there might be more to come. I captured a few extremely large DV files from our raw footage and want to chop them up into smaller files for better organization (i.e. scene or category) I can do this in premiere but it's cumbersome, it crashes, and is slower than I would think it could be done.

 

Is there a program tailored to this? I literally need to just load the file, set my markers, and print to a new file. I'll then bring those into Premiere and After Effects.

 

Again I know this is simple but I can't remember how I did it back in the day.

First off, you need to go and modify your account details so that your username is your real first and last names, as it says in extremely large, unmissable letters when you sign up.

 

Then go and download virtualdub.
