Streaks and stars: when lighting sources appear in frame.

I'm trying to get lighting elements to "streak" horizontally, as opposed to using star filters with multiple rays. Are there any other star or similar filters that can create this look?

check out a Streak Filter, which if positioned properly in front of the lens (you'll need a rotating matte box) will give you a horizontal streak of light similar to the way anamorphic flare's when you shoot into a source. they come in various sizes, 1,2, and 3 mm (the size referring to size of the flare). Hope that helps.

Thanks Bobby, I'll look into that. On other postings (I should've searched that before) people mentioned shooting flares against a background and then composite them in, which was a bit more complicated than I thought. Also as you mentioned, these flares are prone to happen in anamorphic lenses because of their physics. Thanks again, I'll look into that filter!
