mt kili 6-8 days

I'm climbing mt Kili and documenting a team on a 6-8 day climb. Most likely I will use a compact HDV camera. I'm envisioning a solar panel that can attach to the outside of my pack, with batteries on charge inside.

 

any thoughts or other ideas?

 

does anyone have a specific solar unit in mind that has been used successfully in a remote situation like this. Small size and durability would be important.

Walking round Philadelphia a few days ago, I saw a solar panel stuck in a car windshield charging up something; so products as such do exist, though I've no idea where to find them.

Some googling got me this

You could also just get some cells and wire them yourself; though for this i'd consult someone who knows about such things.

 

Patent it and then sell it to filmmakers/doc makers for their tapeless workflows in the deep field!

I could swear I've seen some sort of roll-up solar panel charger-type device in REI's catalog. I would check out REI or one of the other backpacking outfitters. Let us know what you find.
