Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted July 2, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted July 2, 2008 All of this can be found in the ASC manual as well as using certain programs on palm such as pCine. I even (at home) have a little card listing them all. See also http://www.rickwisedp.com/flicker.htm some creative googling can get you other answers http://www.lemac.com.au/tech/TUTS/FLICKER.html (50hz list)
Saul Rodgar
I'm trying to find a formula to work out safe shutter speed / shutter angle combinations shooting on 60hz. Anybody know how I can work this out please? Thanks chris Square wave HMI's (in flicker free mode) are safe at any shutter speed at 60 hz. Quoting David Mullen: "With square-wave electronic ballast in flicker-free mode, you have so many more pulses that a 45 degree shutter angle should not be a problem, nor with Kinoflos, which have a high flicker rate. But with ordinary household flourescents in the location, you may have exposure problems." http://www.2-popforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86882
Duran Levinson
I'm trying to find a formula to work out safe shutter speed / shutter angle combinations shooting on 60hz. Anybody know how I can work this out please? Thanks chris Interesting. I checked out that manual and i live in SA, so we use 50Hz. I have my first "semi-decent" graduation film coming up and i want to shoot with a Bolex H16 for some interior shots. Can you change to any shutter angle and still not get flicker from Kino's and HMI's? And what about shooting high speed on S16, if i want to go over 100fps? And any suggestions about shutter angles. Cheers
