Dog Soldiers

I just saw the most brilliant movie in the world called Dog soldiers.

 

I saw it from 04:00 thru 06:00 in the morning on TV. I turned on the TV, trying to go to sleep after having been out and watch absolutely blown away by it.

 

What I really liked about it was it totally fulfilled genre expectations. Which got me thinking. Has there ever been a b-movie-esque horror movie with stars and a big budget that has been successful? None come to mind.

Yes Dog Soldiers is a well made movie. I think they could have cut the final battle scene by 2/3 and still had more than enough though, as it went on and on.

Not sure what you mean exactly...but "The Shinning" with Jack Nicholson had a big name star and a big name director and was a huge success. JAWS made hundreds of millions and had Robert Shaw in it. He was the biggest name in that movie at the time, as Richard Dreyfuss was not well known at that point.

Saw it ages ago in the cinema. A friend dragged me there and I only went because it's shot in Luxembourg. As you can probably guess, I didn't care much for it.

Same director went on to make the Descent and then Doomsday.
