Premium Member Tim Carroll Posted April 10, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted April 10, 2009 This popped up on eBay, had never even heard of one before, much less seen one. I guess they made these before they started making their own camera systems, back when they were mostly renting ARRI gear. Or I could have that totally wrong. Anyway, here's a few pics and a link to the auction. Premium Member John Sprung Posted April 10, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted April 10, 2009 That's a real old timer, looks to be at least twice as thick as the usual flat bases. Panavision always had their own cameras, but in the pre-panaflex days (PSR cameras), they were as big as Mitchell's BNCR. To fill the need for smaller lighter cheaper MOS cameras, Panavision modified Arri II-C's. Panavision only rents stuff, they never sell anything. -- J.S. Joe Gill
Funny I just read this post earlier today and 10 minutes later saw this same style flatbase in the behind the scenes footage of Soylent Green on TBS...
Premium Member Oliver Christoph Kochs Posted October 17, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted October 17, 2009 I do have the same unit. It needs 24V and the maximum speed in VAR mode is 32 fps. I've heard a rumour that Panavision had once cleared out their inventory and sold off a truck-load of stuff.
