sync motor for the eclair cameflex cm3 anyone?

apparently clive tobin will produce a batch of these if there is enough interest. they are great because they take the milliframe controller and are low cost relative to other motors out there and will work at speeds in the decimal points. is anybody interested?

The Russian Konvas cameras are very similar in design to the CM-3. Might it be possible to design a motor that could be used on both cameras, with only a few parts swapped over?

There are a couple guys, Anatoly at Slow Motion Inc. in Burbank, California, and Olex in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. I know Anatoly also works on Eclair's and Arri's. Look in the Russian subfolder in this 35mm folder:

Hi, I was looking for a sync motor for my CM 3 last June. I had a last minute low budget shoot in a hotel full of flourescent bulbs with special sockets and one big central transformer. There was no possibility to swap out the bulbs.

 

Anyway.

 

I spoke with AZ spectrum in NYC who said with my old motor he could build it into an xTal motor with a Fischer 11 pin contoller output for a lot of money. Much more than the Tobin motor cost. http://www.az-spectrum.com/Eclair_CM3.html

 

I eventually was able to borrow a Tobin motor. It worked, but, was slow to start up.

 

Does anyone have experience with George's motor, the owner of Optical Electro House in Los Angeles?

Did you guy ever get something working with a russian motor, was it capable of long takes without getting untouchably hot?

 

 

 

Anyway, I have a re-shoot coming up and am looking for a motor again.

The Aranda Group in Australia also makes a motor adapted for the cm3. I have never dealt with them, but others on this forum have.

17EP-16 APK, 19EP-16APK, 18EP-16 APK crystal sync speed motors of Konvas-1M, Konvas-2M cameras can be upgrade on modern crystal sync speed conrtollers.

This is controlers can have speeds 23.976 fps and 29.97 fps.

 

This is 1418 controller with fixed speeds :

8.0, 12.0, 12.5, 15.0, 16.0, 20.0, 23.976, 24.0, 25.0, 29.97, 30.0, 32.0, 40.0, 48.0, 50.0, 60.0 fps.

 

2203 controller with fixed speeds and time lapse, digital film counter and LCD display.

speeds: 6.250 8 10 12 12.5 15 16 16.666 20 23.976 24 25 29.970 30 32 33.333 36 40 48 50 60 fps

Time lapse :1, 2, 4, 8, 15, 30, 60, 120, 240, 600, 900, sec.

 

1420-0304 controller with speed synthesizer 5..50 fps, step 0.01 fps.

You can setup of 23.97 fps.

 

1421 controller have 36 cells of speeds and every cell can have any speed at rate 5..50 fps +/- 0.001 fps. ( film counter, LCD display )

 

The controllers can be use for upgarde of eectroncis of motors of other cine cameras too.

 

The camera can have remote control, digital film counter, digital voltmeter of battery.
