Nick Centera
Hey, what exactly is a distro box? Why would you need to use it and when would you use it? Thanks Nick
Premium Member John Hoffler Posted November 16, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted November 16, 2009 a distro box is a 600 or 300 amp breaker box that takes power from a generator or house power via camlocks and breaks it off into separate 100amp outputs for running power to all the lights you need. you'd usually run 100amp or 60amp whips off the distro out to your lunchboxes (smaller power boxes which splits that 100 amps down into 20amp edison plugs) or directly into the larger lights that require higher amperage to run. basically each box simply breaks the overall power of your genny/house power into smaller, and more manageable plugs. hope this helps :)
Nick Centera
That makes much more sense now, thanks! If you running off a house, where would the distro get wired into? So that it gets all or most of the power from the house. Nick

It could be a building, it could be a stage, it could be an actual residential house. All are referred to as "the house". Usually if one is working with the maintanence guy, or electrician for the building, he is referred to as the "house man". Best Tim
