Andy Thomas
I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me what the "tilt/pan head" that Kubrick is using in this picture is called. It can be the exact model name or industry slang etc I just have no idea what these manual tilt/pan heads are called. Thank You!!
Mike Lary
It's a gear head.

Tom Jensen
I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me what the "tilt/pan head" that Kubrick is using in this picture is called. It can be the exact model name or industry slang etc I just have no idea what these manual tilt/pan heads are called. Thank You!! It looks like a very old Moy head. I mean "says." Isn't it English and didn't Joe Dunton buy the company?
Premium Member John Sprung Posted February 12, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted February 12, 2010 Definitely a gear head, definitely not a Worrall. The pan wheel looks too big, because the still was shot with a wide angle. In reality, they're almost always the same size. -- J.S.
Lester Dunton
It is a Moy 16 inch head, converted by Samulson's to a two speed Samcine. There were a range made 10 inch, 16 inch and a 22 inch, for the blimped Technicolour cameras.... We still have spare parts!, not to mention possibly the head in the picture.
