Guest Tim Partridge
I have just read that Ronald Neame has died, aged 99. I thought he was a brilliant cinematographer, particularly for his two big films for David Lean, the black and white war movie In which we Serve and the gaudy technicolor romcom of Blithe Spirit. As a writer, he also adapted Blithe Spirit, Brief Encounter and Great Expectations for the big screen! I never cared much for Neame's directorial work, but an amazing all round filmmaker nonetheless. Sad news though living to 99 is pretty good... I have a lot of nostalgia for those classic British movies and studio moviemakers.

Mark Dunn
Lewis Gilbert was just on 'Desert Island Discs', a mere stripling at 90.
Robert Costello
With him as director, I really love The Horse's Mouth- and the end sequence of Tunes of Glory is really affecting- both with Alec Guinness, btw-
