I have just read that Ronald Neame has died, aged 99.

 

I thought he was a brilliant cinematographer, particularly for his two big films for David Lean, the black and white war movie In which we Serve and the gaudy technicolor romcom of Blithe Spirit.

 

As a writer, he also adapted Blithe Spirit, Brief Encounter and Great Expectations for the big screen!

 

I never cared much for Neame's directorial work, but an amazing all round filmmaker nonetheless.

Sad news though living to 99 is pretty good...

 

I have a lot of nostalgia for those classic British movies and studio moviemakers.
