Premium Member Vincent Sweeney Posted June 16, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted June 16, 2011 I'm trying to ignore this kind of thing more and more lately but thought I'd share this for the tech fans here. Overheard a rumor this evening: Canon. S35mm sensor. At least 422, 10bit built in so approved for BBC and Discovery. Possible 4K option(?). Well under $20k. EF mount possible. Maybe new lens options. Targeting F3 and RED heavily. Unrelated to 2010 demo of 4K sensor.
Brian Drysdale
There was an April fool Canon camera. Lots of rumours around about Canon video cameras, including 2 versions of the 5D III. There's even a web site: http://www.canonrumors.com/
Premium Member Vincent Sweeney Posted June 16, 2011 Author Premium Member Share Posted June 16, 2011 This came from a non-internet source who is way ahead of anything like that.
Brian Drysdale
No reason why there couldn't be such a camera in development, there seems to be a reasonably sized market for the $13k-15k Super 35mm sensor cameras. It mightn't make their DSLR video fans happy, but that's a different market and I suspect they mightn't even be happy with a Canon version of the FS100 because of the price.
