Premium Member Alessandro Machi Posted December 24, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted December 24, 2011 It's no secret that wedding videographers offer super-8 film options for their weddings. Here is one example of how one production company incorporates Super-8 into their business model. http://www.purelandweddings.com/super_8mm_film_packages.html

Mark Sperry
Might I add mine own to the mix? www.marksperryphoto.com I LOVE the Super 8 part of the weddings I shoot. Almost more than the photography! Edited January 4, 2012 by Mark Sperry
Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted January 4, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted January 4, 2012 www.marksperryphoto.com Nice idea to mix the b&w with color. Is it hard selling the up-charge for Super 8 or do you find clients genuinely interested and willing to pay extra?
Matt Stevens
It is exceedingly difficult to get people to pony up. They just don't understand. But, when they see the results, they tend to love the super8 parts best. Case in point... http://vimeo.com/32013986
Mark Sperry
I mean, I get to do it about half the time. I think people who aren't getting a "wedding video" see it as something cool, and even with Super 8 I'm A LOT cheaper than hiring a whole videographer deal. Studios like Hello Super 8 charge around $3-4K for their S8 packages, where as I usually tack on like 1200-1500. I just tell them they're getting like a 10 minute video, all just set to music. I'm still new so like I'm more affordable anyways, so even with the added charges I'm competitive. I got a Bolex so I'm trying to see if I can work that in...it's kind of a different animal though... Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted January 9, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted January 9, 2012 I would think that the more "home movie" or "arty" look of regular 8 or super 8 would be an easier sell than 16mm as that starts to get closer to the clean video of DSLRs. Although I think 16mm reversal gives a really great look like the home movies of Hollywood Stars of the 50's.
