jay singh
We are planning to use REDONE MX for our feature film. I would like to know what may be the difference in the quality if I use Zeiss Compact Prime lenses (CP2) instead of Arri Ultra prime lenses. Albert Smith
There is a good amount on this across the internets. Cp.2 are pretty much the SLR still lenses rehoused for cinematography...not to say that is a terrible thing though they are pretty good lenses still... there is minor breathing, they are slower and have a less consistent t stop through the range, and I'm not sure about how good the coverage is for 4.5k ws if that is something you are doing. If money is a consideration I would also think about standard speeds as an option.
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted January 6, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted January 6, 2012 I'd look into the Cooke Speed Panchros personally, or maybe the new Leica lenses coming out for cine work.... I love the Compact Primes, though but they are nowhere NEAR the quality of Ultra Primes or proper cinema lenses... those extra thousands of dollars to make a difference... But still, good lenses FOR THE PRICE.
