The on off switch on my ltr 45 ( wooden Handle) has broke and I need to replace it. The same type is easy to get from electrical

specialists...but does anyone know what the diodes , soldered to the rear 6 connectors are for ie what function?

And, if I wanted to replace it with a simpler on off switch ( 2 pole) would the diodes be necessary and if so how would I wire the diodes .
