Jose del c Martinez
What is the best DSLR camera to shoot a short film (Noir) movie in the market? JC
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted May 15, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted May 15, 2013 Right now, in that price range, the Blackmagic Cinema Camera looks more interesting than any DSLR, unless you want to deal with the limitations of the new 1080P raw "hack" of the Canon 5D Mk.II. Otherwise, many people seem to like the "hacked" Panasonic GH2 or the unhacked GH3. You could also try one of the cameras that allows an uncompressed HDMI-out and run it to an onboard recorder/monitor. I think the biggest problem with all these cameras is getting the lenses set-up for cinema-style focus-pulling. The lenses and the accessorization can end up doubling the cost of using these cameras, at which point you might as well look into using an actual HD camcorder. Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted May 29, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted May 29, 2013 Spoke with a friend at a rental house yesterday that said their drawer full of Canon 5D Mk II's get people in the door, all the accessories to make them usable is what makes them money. I'm sure the Alexa's get other people in the door too.
