Reuel Gomez
It will. Will it cover the height of most 2x anamorphic lenses?
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted August 11, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted August 11, 2013 Dragon sensor is 30 x 15.8mm. 4-perf 35mm anamorphic area is approx. 22 x 18mm so 2X anamorphic lenses would cover the 1.20 : 1 area of the Dragon sensor since you don't use the full width of the sensor to get a 2.40 image once unsqueezed from 1.20 : 1. But since the Dragon sensor is 15.8mm tall instead of 18mm tall you are getting a slightly tighter field of view from the lens.
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted August 11, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted August 11, 2013 Doing some rough math, I get about a 1.2 crop factor with 2X anamorphic lenses on the Dragon sensor if you will using a 1.20 : 1 area, so basically if you like the view of a 50mm anamorphic on a 35mm camera, you'd use a 40mm anamorphic to get something similar in view.
