Saba Mazloum
Hey guys, Did a search didn't really find the answer I needed. So I shot a music video with the 5D mark iii, all in 720p 60fps mode. I know you can conform the files in cinema tools to 60fps. Iv noticed though, you lose mbps after you conform them. The questions is , should I not conform them and just slow them down in FCP? Thanks !

Travis Gray
I've always used Cinematools for conforming, otherwise you have mixed FPS which will be a problem if you bring it over into color or something. Timecode gets all whacky. I have noticed the mbps is different though, but I think that's by virtue of how it records. I typically shoot all 60fps stuff on an FS100 now, and I know it has to record that at a different mbps than standard 24fps.
Saba Mazloum
Normally I've used 5d to RGB for this. So you recon , i should go through 5dtoRGB and convert each file that i want to cut with, and set them i guess to apple proess proxy? then edit it in FCPx and output it at apple proress 422HQ? Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted July 2, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted July 2, 2013 Correct. Using 5d to RBG you set them to 24P ProRes files.
Saba Mazloum
Correct. Using 5d to RBG you set them to 24P ProRes files. You recon i should edit with Proxy files then output them to HQ, that wont decrees the quality of the clips right?
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted July 2, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted July 2, 2013 I don't see a reason why not to go right to ProRes422 and forget proxy. HQ may be overkill; but you should do a test to see what works best for you.
