You could try downloading the Avid MXF plugin and codec pack, which is free, and then installing VLC player.

That should allow you to view your rushes from within VLC player.

MXF could mean a lot of things. The first thing to do is ask Fotokem what kind of MXF it is, or failing that, what sort of system they'd expect it to work on.

 

You could try the free tool ffmpeg, which should be able to extract it to another format, possibly without loss if it's in a codec that's understood by Quicktime or AVI files.
