beegblock
Hi, I was wondering if there's anything out there that can play MiniDV tapes and transfer them directly to the computer via firewire? I don't want to use my video camera because I'd like to keep its operation strictly to recording material (less wear on the heads if I cut down to only do one thing rather than record AND playing/transferring.) There must be a small deck of some sort that takes MiniDV tapes and can transfer the video. I got myself a MiniDV tape rewinder to relieve some of the stress on the camera's components and I'd like to see if there's a player that I can use to transfer the video footage rather than using the camera. Thanks!
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted April 12, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted April 12, 2005 Hi, Yes, dozens of them, at all levels. The cheapest option tends to be a cheap camera, oddly enough, but you could look at the portable GV-D1000 clamshell, the JVC BR-DV3000 or the similar but better Sony DSR-11, which is a workhorse of the field.
