Drew Saracco
Hey guys, I am data managing on a job coming up, and have been instructed to transcode both MXF files from the C500 and AVCHD files from the FS700 to DNxHD MXF files. I have a macbook pro retina, but do not have Media Composer 6. I was able to download and install the DNxHD quicktime codecs, but cannot find the MXF codecs anywhere. Also, is there any 3rd party software that any of you have experience with that will get the job done? Thank you so much! Best, Drew
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted November 17, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted November 17, 2013 I'm pretty sure you can do this with ffmpeg, but its MXF handling is a bit variable. You can't seriously have got to the point of being paid as a data wrangler without having at least heard of ffmpeg?
Drew Saracco
Heard of, but haven't used. Thanks!
Drew Saracco
Like an idiot, I didn't check Resolve. I can do almost everything I need through it. However, I can't find anyone who can confirm that Resolve will read the AVCHD files from the FS700. If anyone can confirm that, that would be amazing. Chris Burke
There's the Proxy mill plug in for Shotput Pro. It will do what you need.
Cris Knight
You may want to try the latest version of Sorenson Squeeze as well. I've had good luck with it, transcoding from difficult .264 formats into very easy to handle AVID media.
John Miguel King
Resolve does the job.. Be careful with reel names and clip names, talk it through with the edit assistant. The fs700 returns to clip 00001 on each new card, which is totally annoying.
