Ronnee Swenton
I have to shoot in a location with fluorescent fixtures. T12 F20 rated. Will Kino T12F40 bulbs work in these fixtures? The location also has some T8 fixtures as well, and I'm curious if I can fit T12 bulbs in them too.
timHealy
2' and 4' T8's and T12's are physically the same length and have the same pin configuration on the ends. Getting a t12 into a fixture designed for t8's depends on the fixture. Maybe someone smarter than I can comment on the pros and cons of matching or not matching bulbs and ballasts in location fixtures. You don't have to use Kino bulbs. You can use older Chroma or Optimas, or newer movie tone (or other brand) fluorescent bulbs.
Chanon Wangtrirat
T12 F20 means "T12 Bulb rated at 20W" Genuine kino bulb which is also T12 but the 2' of them rated at 40w because they over wattage them to achieve higher brighness per bulb, And they added Magenta to compensate for green spike. If you use 2' Kino bulb which fitted in to T12F20 but run at half a power of which they were design for. Supposed you'll get Magenta cast.
Ged Murphy
Are there many fittings (fixtures)? Fitting Kino tubes (if the fitting allows) may be possible but I would normally recommend something like Osram's Lumilux Deluxe tubes (T8) which have a high CRI and are available in Tungsten (930) and Daylight (950). T8 should fit the T12 fittings as well as the T8s as the pin config. is the same on both.
