Ryan Meacham
Hello Community, For the last year I have experimenting heavily with Super 8, particularly Tri-X. I have been shipping rolls to Spectra for processing. A couple of days ago I found 3 rolls that have not been developed. They are 2 rolls of Tri-X and one Ektachrome. I shot with these rolls probably 5 months ago. Before I send them to Spectra, I was wondering if there is even any chance that these can still be developed. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! Site Sponsor Robert Houllahan Posted December 31, 2013 Site Sponsor Share Posted December 31, 2013 You will have no trouble with these rolls, in fact if it had been five Years you still would not have had any trouble developing them. -Rob-
Josh Gladstone
Absolutely! If they've been kept indoors in a cool dark place like under a bed or in a closet, they're probably totally fine. If they've been sitting out in a hot car in the sun for 5 months, they're probably a bit messed up, but I'd still get them processed. And just since it's sort of on topic, here's some 100 year old unprocessed negatives that were in the news recently! http://petapixel.com/2013/12/27/100-year-old-box-exposed-negatives-discovered-conservators-antarctica/ Edited December 31, 2013 by Josh Gladstone
David Cunningham
Yeah. I've even had some good luck processing 30 year old ektachrome films ( some shot 30 years ago, some shot last year) and they always come out "usable". I've actually had 20 year old frozen tri-x look almost as good as new. Process away!
