Marcel Zyskind
Hi there Does anyone have info on what diffusion was used on the lenses in Terry Gilliam's 12 Monkeys? It's quite a soft film. Many thanks Marcel
Boone Hudgins
If you look at hot spots like candles and such, you can see it's a net. I hear that Roger Pratt likes to diffuse with nets behind the lens. It is a pretty soft film at times, it seems. It was shot with Cooke S3 primes, I believe. I'm not sure what was used for the zooms, but I imagine it was a Cooke zoom. They're low contrast lenses, and I've heard people say they look soft on wide shots. Also, the DVD is pretty old. I'm not sure if that's a factor or not.
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted May 1, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted May 1, 2005 I believe it was a black Dior net behind the lens.
