Delay in processing after shooting - possible negative effects?

Hello,

 

I'm planning on shooting a couple of things soon. They are in small quantities so I have to wait until I've shot the total amount before I can send the total amount to the lab (to meet minimum requirements etc.), first I will shoot 100ft of film and then sometime in the following 4 weeks I'll shoot another 400ft.

 

My question is: Will there be any negative effects on the 100ft of film if it is left for some weeks after exposure before it is sent for processing along with the rest of the film?

 

Should I store it in a fridge after exposure as you would unprocessed stock?

You should be fine - just be sure to keep it refrigerated (or ideally in the freezer). I wouldn't go too far past one month or two.

2001 had elements for VFX which were shot once, stored in a fridge for a year or two, then shot again to make a composite.

 

We have processed 7231 from the early 1970s and it turned out ok.

I've kept exposed negative in a refrigerator for upwards of six months and when it was eventually processed there was no discernable difference between that footage and some film that was sent to the lab the same day it was shot. It should be fine.
