Premium Member Chris Larue Posted November 4, 2015 Premium Member Posted November 4, 2015 Hello everybody, I'm on preproduction for a documentary and I need to set a greenscreen shooting light with fluo. I need to be at 250 fps, 1/100 shutter speed and I look for fluo ballast for this. Is anybody already experienced this ? Do I need a electronic 300Hz ballast ? Have you any advice about bulbs. Thank you.
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted November 4, 2015 Premium Member Posted November 4, 2015 How can you get a 1/100th per frame exposure time if you are running at 250 frames a second, in other words, one frame every 1/250th of a second? With no shutter, aka a 360 degree shutter angle, the longest possible exposure time would be 1/250th of a second. With a 180 degree shutter angle, the exposure time is 1/500th.
Premium Member Chris Larue Posted November 4, 2015 Author Premium Member Posted November 4, 2015 My mistake David :)
Mihnea Snooker Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 So you will probably need a 1000hz ballast
Robin R Probyn Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Chris Have a look at this, all shot 240 fps.. 4 x 4 Kino,s look to be fine at 240.. 1/250 1/500 / 1/100 all the way to 1/3000.. Your bigger problem might be the amount of light you,ll need at 240fps.. 10 times what you would need for 24 fps.. and narrower shutter more light.. I hope your subject is small !! http://nofilmschool.com/2012/07/shooting-slow-motion-fs700-examples
