Luke Randall
Are there any modern or accessible alternatives to use or adapt this shoe? I know it is designed to hold the Lightweight Rail System, which I'd like to do for lens support but the originals are hard to come by. It's nice as you can add rails without bulking up the camera underneath which messes with the balance when handheld for me.
Kalle Folke
Hi! Here's one for sale (if it's still available...: http://www.aimimage.com/arri-lws-3-15mm-bar-bracket/ I've bought used equipment from them and can recommend their service. The HMI I bought broke in shipping (glass reflector cracked) but they where fast to send a replacement part (that was very expensive for them to get from Arri). I had a Sr2 before and I learnt that there are some people (on ebay etc.) who try to charge VERY much for spare parts and accessories. But if you have some patience and detective skills you can find it for reasonable prices. Enjoy shooting film! :)
Luke Randall
Thanks for the reply Kalle. I spotted that one online too, but the rails look a little too short I think. Cheers for the tip, i'll keep an eye on ebay :)
Gregg MacPherson
These may be the short rails that you might need to work with primes. If the rails protrude under the filter trays of the matte box you may find you can't slide a grad down far enough to make use of it. Otherwise, longer rods, yes (as well, not instead of). Kalle Folke
I would think these have threads to screw in longer rods also? Like the Aaton rails. I'm not sure, but maybe ask them...
Luke Randall
I would think these have threads to screw in longer rods also? Like the Aaton rails. I'm not sure, but maybe ask them... They have their own click in system, so unfortunately you cannot just screw in any extension rods. The extensions for the these if you can find them are only another two long also inches I think. For anyone else who might find themselves in the same dillema as me. I tracked these down http://www.visualproducts.com/storeProductDetail02.asp?productID=728&Cat=3&Cat2=33 Not sure how much they charge though. Cheers!
