Guest Andy Kugler Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 What is the preferred filtration system for super 8? B&W, Cokin, Wratten? How does it affect exposure? Any help is appreciated. Andy
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted May 27, 2005 Premium Member Posted May 27, 2005 Hi, Most of the super-8 camers I've seen have fairly fast, read physically large, lenses. The Chinon camera I have would require a 4x4 mattebox, but it isn't internal focus, so you'd have to rig some kind of rod system - which would likely be a custom build, as the only mounting screw is in the bottom of the handgrip, in completely the wrong place. If your camera is internal focus, that's a lot easier. As for exposure - well, if you use through-the-lens metering, it should compensate automatically, but obviously anything else will depend on the filter. Phil
Dan Salzmann Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 I like using a Kenko technical filter holder and Wratten gels with my super8 camera. This seems like the least cumbersome way to go. Rods and a mattebox seem to weigh as much as the camera and slows things down.
