Jarin Blaschke
I'm shooting my first zoom-heavy film, and having only used the 3:1 Primo zoom before, was wondering what the vague hierarchy of sharpness is with other zoom lenses, for both PV and PL mounts. I was hoping to get a starting idea of my options and what would match our primes - either "Z" series or old Mark IIs for a more retro feel. The shoot will probably go Panavision, but could also swing toward Arricam, if 60fps is needed. Thanks, all.... jarin
Patrick Neary
I've used Cooke zooms with the ultra-speed MK-II primes from Panavision (based mostly on their recommendation) and thought they matched quite well. I've raved about the 20-60 zoom here before, it's a sweetheart.

Both are T3.1, very good wide open but I usually light for a T4. The color is slightly warmer than the ultra-speeds. If you are grading in a telecine they will match nicely. Its worth doing a film test with a couple of sets of lenses. Stephen Williams Lighting Cameraman www.stephenw.com
