Depends on what you're talking about. Master Anamorphics are very expensive to rent or buy. Kowas are considerably cheaper. Realistically, a cheap anamorphic is still going to be more than a cheap spherical lens. In addition to that, you're going to need a camera with a 4:3 sensor, or at least a crop mode. In the case of Alexa, for example, this means you have to rent the most expensive model.

There doesn't actually appear to be a huge difference in price between the shiny new anamorphics from Cooke and Zeiss and their top-end spherical glass (5/i and Master Primes). But it's all very expensive stuff regardless.
