Walter West Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Hi guys, I'm new to film-making and just purchased an SRII and wanted to know what size (in diameter) film core would I need for the take up side of the magazine when shooting 400' rolls. I just purchased a 3" diameter film core, would that be okay? Thanks, Walter
Premium Member Tyler Purcell Posted September 21, 2017 Premium Member Posted September 21, 2017 Sadly, you need a 2" core for a film camera with 400ft magazines.
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted September 22, 2017 Premium Member Posted September 22, 2017 Many SR mags have a collapsible core on the take-up, which is about the size of a 2" core. If your mag has a core adapter instead then you need a 2" core. This thread has a detailed and excellent description of loading an SR which may be helpful to you: http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=119
