Brendan Schmidt
Hello all, i am looking for a BL to practice repairing as i am interested in learning how to repair the 16s and bl. Looking for a complete camera with lens and mags. Doesn't have to work but id prefer a complete specimen. Help a guy out?
Premium Member Tyler Purcell Posted September 26, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted September 26, 2017 Hard to find a broken BL that doesn't have value. Someone sold one on ebay few months ago for $600 and it was just a broken body. So keep your eyes open, but it's super rare to find a broken camera for sale or even free. Brendan Schmidt
Yeah, that's what i'm seeing. A few in pretty beat up, well used shape still going for over a grand. I might just stick with the 16S.. but so far i cant find a service manual for that one either.
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted September 26, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted September 26, 2017 (edited) No service manual exists, just exploded diagrams and wiring schematics. Servicing movie cameras was a skill more often learned from manufacturer's training courses and from other technicians rather than manuals. Feel free to ask questions on this site if you get stuck into a camera. I've serviced a number of 16S cameras, not so familiar with 16BLs. Tim Carroll knows a thing or two about the 16S as well. Brendan Schmidt
Thanks! im pretty mechanically inclined, i work on antique fusee watches, and really enjoy working on cameras and cine cameras. I do need to find some tools though. But i am willing and eager to learn how to totally CLA a 16s properly and do it figuratively "by the book" ... man i wish i could apprentice under someone.
