Arthur Sanchez Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Hello all you optics Gurus out there... It seems that a Bolex can come with one of 3 basic viewfinders 6X, 10X and 13X... What are those ratings based on??? The width of the image??? and then if you upgrade the optics... How do you measure the size? HELP!
Jean-Louis Seguin Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 I think it's related to the apparent size of an object when viewed at a distance of 25cm. This would be called 1x. So if you place a frame of 16mm film which has a width of 10.25mm at a distance of 25cm, it will have a width of 1x. A 6x viewfinder would display an image which appears 6 times as wide.
Arthur Sanchez Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 Interesting... thank you... I shall go forth and view!
Arthur Sanchez Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 Jean-Louis, I assume this is looking thru a 50 or 55mm lens?
