j3design
Hi, I am new to the film world, I am a graphic designer and do websites and print work, although it pays the bills its getting old and static, I have been getting into film laitly and was wondering how I can use my design skills with film. I dont really want to make movies, I am just really interested in the titling and graphic design used in films. Does anyone happen to know If commercials and production houses farm this out to companies or just take it on themselves? Is this job called a broadcast designer? What are the right programs to learn. thanks don
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted January 11, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted January 11, 2004 Hi, > Is this job called a broadcast designer? Often. > What are the right programs to learn. Photoshop, After Effects, Combustion, Commotion, Boris Red - the standard stuff. Really once you have a few of these down the others become "conversion training" not a complete rework from the ground up. The difference between TV and film work seems to be that you can get away with smaller text for cinema, but of course this is a useful trick to make your TV work look more cinematic!
