85C filter for Ektachrome 64...

85A corrects 5500K to 3400K

85B corrects 5500K to 3200K

85C corrects 5500K to 3800K

 

So you will get a cooler daylight effect if you substitute the 85B with an 85C for a 3200K balanced stock.

 

Oops, looks like I don't know my 85 "a,b,c's" Or should I say, I don't know my 85 "c,a,b's". I didn't realize the 85B had more correction within it than an 85C.

 

What if I want to correct from 5600K to 3000K? Any one filter available for that?

Either you'd have to add one of the 81 series to an 85 filter (like combine an 81A or 81B to an 85B) to further correct 5500K to 3000K, or experiment with using Coral filters and find one that is heavy enough, like a Coral 5 or higher. But you won't get quite the correct spectral response with Corals nor do they have any UV component built into them. So for reversal and direct projection, you'd have to shoot tests to determine the correct Coral filter.

 

MIRED for 5500K is 181.5 (divide 1,000,000 by 5500K), for 3200K is 312.5, and for 3000K is 333.3. So to shift 5500K to 3200K, you'd need a filter with a MIRED value of 312.5 - 181.5 = 131. To shift 5500K to 3000K, you'd need +152.

 

The 85B filter has a MIRED shift value of +131. So you'd need to add a filter with a shift value of +21. The 81A is +18, which is close enough.

The Tiffen Decamired filters I don't believe go any higher than 12 (or a shift of +120).

Thanks for the links John and David.

 

I was happy to see that a Skylight 1A helps remove blue, I didn't see it's mired shift listed, any idea what it might be?

 

Maybe an 85N (edit note, oops, ment 85B) and a skylight 1A is the way to go.

I think it's +10, but I have no idea what an 85N filter is.
