Larry Miles
The subject pretty much says it all. I'm thinking of converting my Aaton mount camera to PL, but I would hate to lose the use of my Aaton-mount lenses. Thank you.
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted May 24, 2020 Premium Member Share Posted May 24, 2020 I don’t think it would be physically possible, given the close similarity in mount diameters and the fact that Aaton mount lenses need to seat 12mm closer to the film plane than a PL mount flange (in other words, inside the PL mount). It’s possible some of your Aaton lenses could be converted to PL mount. Check with companies like Duclos, Focus Optics, True Lens Service or P&S Technik. Evan Walsh
There are several adaptors for the Aaton mount that would allow other lenses to be used without having to convert the camera body to PL. Arri B, Nikon and I believe a few others. Lenses like the Canon s16 zooms can also be easily converted to Aaton mount, the AA mounts for those are floating around eBay and visual products if thats a route you want to explore.
