John Hovhanes Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 Hello, friends. Please tell me if the capabilities of BMPC 6K are enough for normal keying and in what format is better to shoot for keying: 4:2:2 using HDMI ande external recorder with BlackMagic RAW?
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted July 13, 2020 Premium Member Posted July 13, 2020 RAW would be better for keying since you can't record 4:4:4. 1
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted July 31, 2020 Premium Member Posted July 31, 2020 However, people have made keys over the years from even pretty bad codecs... certainly plenty of people work with 4:2:2 all the time for keys. 1 1

I shudder when I think of how many green screens I’ve shot on 8-bit C300 cameras. But they worked. Lighting the green screen evenly makes keying so much easier. 1
