Bolex h16 SBM motor / conversion to S16

Hello everyone!

I own a bolex h16 sbm and am looking to buy a motor for it but finding it hard to find. Any recommendations on which types are better / where I can source one from?

I'm also thinking about converting to S16. Does anybody know a trusted person to do this?

You want an Bolex ESM motor which Duall has in stock, or better yet a Tobin TXM-26, but hard to find. Super 16 conversions can't help you there!

I see that there is also a Bolex EM and an MST motor that are said to work with most H16 models. It looks like the ESM motor can do several different speeds. Are all these motors fine to use with an SBM or Rex-5?

I think Duall might also do Super 16 conversions.

The world is going to soon need a new generation of camera techs. Many of the well-known camera technicians who have excellent reputations for all sorts of conversions such as to Super 16 and things like putting a hard front PL mount on an Arri IIC are retired now.

Yes, EM/MST both also work with Rex5/SBM Cameras, but as you said, ESM has variable speeds and works with battery grip!
