  1. Sweet. I still need to get one, but I can't afford it and film. Grr.....
  2. I was more in agreeance for the guy who just basically said that he needed to get digital because it's cheaper.
  3. Great reply. As wonderful miniDV is as a cost saving device, it's really something that is overused and poorly substituted for film.
  4. IF your budget allows for it, check out the Digidesign 002 digital rackmount mixer. It's expensive, but it's one hell of a mixer and will record very well onto your powerbook and comes with great software. http://www.digidesign.com/products/digi002rack/
  5. Fritz Lang's M Fritz Lang's THe Testament of Dr. Mabuse Bloody Sunday (2002)
  6. That's awesome man. I'm jealous now.
  7. Cool. I'll be next on line for it then. I was afraid at first that it was going to be a single 8 cartridge instead of super 8.
  8. Does anyone know anything about this stock? I just saw it on Spectra's website, and I was shocked to see that Fuji has entered the super 8 market. Is it really a single 8 cartridge that has been mislabeled by the people at Spectra, or is Fuji really making a super 8 stock?
  9. What about the removal of the atake-up reel? I am also extremely new to celluloid, and I'm looking into buying a K3 soon. Is the take-up reel safe to be removed in daylight, or do I need a dark room for that?
  10. I've been trying to PM you but for some reason it isn't letting me, so I'll just say it here. I spoke to the director, and it's a go, we will just need some time to get paypal set up and get some money into the account. I'll try to PM you when we're set up.
  11. Thanks for the responses guys. I'll start playing around with that on my next roll.
  12. It gives you contact information, but not much other than that. You can always get a list of who you need to contact and sign up for the free trial.
  13. I also suggest getting a super 8. It's actually film instead of video trying to be film, and the cams are selling for next to nothing these days. I started out on video and recently acquired a super 8 cam and I'll never go back. Super 8 has alot more room for experimentation than video.
  14. I'm very new to film. I've been shooting on digital for a while, but recently I've been making the move into film. I've been experimenting with super 8 film recently, and when I process it, there's a push/pull option for an additional $10. What exactly is this, and what are the benefits?
  15. The best lighting I've seen would be in some of the Welles films like Touch of Evil and The Trial (even though the latter was a few years after film-noir ended). You might want to show a German expressionism film like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari as well for the origins of the style, and Fritz Lang's M is a must since it was in my opinion, film-noirs most important ancestor. had M been made ten years later in the US the exact same way it is, no one would hesitate to call it film-noir.
  16. Thanks. And those will fit in a normal super 8 cam, right?
  17. Sorry, I know that this is a stupid question, but I just recently got into super 8 (within the last month or so) and what exactly is pro-8? How different from super 8 is it? I always thought that it was a 100' reel for older 8mm cams, but you mentioned a cartridge, so will it work in my super 8?
  18. That's good to hear that it's working out. I'm just starting to play around with super 8, and that's the next type I'mm going to play around with.
  19. What do you mean? Are you not strong enough to hold it, is the leverage too much or are you moving your hand around for the mic to pick up?
