  1. You should ask Guy over at http://cameraspro.com/ He seems very knowledgable on 16 and Super 16. He has firm reasons as to why the NPR Eclair is superior to th eACL if you want to shoot features etc. Let us know what he says. I will send him an Eclaire NPR for Super 16 conversion soon. Alex
  2. What's a "pic in pic edits"? As far as quality, by posting it on You Tube it diminishes dramatically. Viewed on an HD screen it looks like video but a good quality video at least. I hear you concerning the action. Getting a 47 year old, non pro to do jumps and acrobatics would have been difficult. I tried to make it as exciting as possible with the things he was able to do. It could have gone the opposite way with him just preparing for his ride looking in the sunset etc. Thanks for the input Alex
  3. I shot this with my Sony VX200 in the Santa Monica mountains. The actual shoot took 45 minutes right before the sun went down. Editing on FCP took 5 hrs. I could have done it in less time but I am still figuring out the program. I was thinking of putting a voie over that says: "When I was 17 I felt I could do anything..... That's funny, now at 47.... I feel the same way" Athletes.com logo appears. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JO4Aawp6XI I'd love to get feedback. I'm a big boy, I can take it :) Alex www.alexardenti.com
  4. Where did you guys buy your NPRs?
  5. Why would the insurance company not pay him back for the value of his gear ifit was stolen?
  6. I am talking with a DP about using him and his camera for a spec shoot with a potyential buyer that wants to look at the final product. The DP says that it is up to the producer to have insurance for his equipment. He owns his camera but keeps it un-insured because he is telling me that all producers pay for the insurance on his camera for every shoot he does regardless if it is a spec spot or not. I own several cameras and would never leave the house without my insurance paid up, whether I am using it for myself or I'm hired for a job. Tecnically... my sand bags are insured. What is the standard procedure with most DPs who own their own cameras? Don't cinematographers insure the cameras they make a living with? Just trying to learn about the industry and I want to do it the right way. Thanks for any advice and opinions. Alex
  7. CNA, 2 Million with $25,000 in equipment declared. I buy it for 1 year at a time.

  9. I just saw it also and my wife and I loved it. Story has some cliches and there where some "Rocky" elements but, hey, I felt it all worked together. At least I felt someone was telling me a story. An interesting story. Shot beautifully David. I saw it at the Serman Oaks Galleria and it looked impeccably sharp and colors were beautiful and saturated. Alex www.alexardenti.com
  10. How do you like working with the BL? Is it noisy and hard to focus? Alex www.alexardenti.com
  11. How did you like working with the Arri BL? I'm thinking about getting one. Was it noisy and was it hard to focus? Alex www.alexardenti.com
  12. did you end up buying that camera?
  13. Where do you suggest I get one? Alex www.alexardenti.com
  14. Did you ever get a "lost loop" with the R16 where the film is not loaded correctly and comes out all jumpy and blurred? Alex www.alexardenti.com
  15. Are they 100 ft? If so I'll take them off you hands. Alex aardenti@socal.rr.com
  16. Can you still look in the viewfinder for focusing and then frame with the lcd screen or monitor? Alex www.alexardenti.com
  17. Would anyone have a suggestion on some 16mm camera rental houses that help the indie filmmaker, more so than the larger houses? I'm working on my director's reel and want to shoot as much as possible. Most rental places won't budge on their price-list.
  18. What an awesome site! Thanks so much fro that. Question: I saw on the video that you put the gels close to the light. Have you ever seen any gels melt or, heavens forbid, catch fire? Alex www.alexardenti.com
  19. I've been told by a firend who has a sound recording facility that it shouldn't be too hard to eliminate any noise from my Beaulieu R16. I will get a barney for it and will shoot with a longer lens but I am afraid there might still be a hum, at least. Anyone have any experience in this? I plan on shooting my first feature soon. Thanks. This forum is the best. Alex www.alexardenti.com
  20. Thanks! This helps SO much. Now it's time to get a good shotgun mic. I've been checking out B&H and seems like I can get a good one for under $500. Anybody with suggestions on that? Will probably make my own boom pole. Alex www.alexardenti.com
  21. Has anyone ever recorded sound for a film camera project using digital recorders that use compact flash cards? I found the MicroTrack 24/96 portable 2 channel compact flash recorder on the net all over the place at $399. I'm guessing I can put a great quality shotgun mike on it and use it for my first feature. Then I can just download it to my Mac in Final Cut. Too good to be true? Any advice would be immenseley appreciated Alex www.alexardenti.com
  22. I just bought a Bealieu R16 and am contemplating getting a crystal sinch motor, but don't really want to spend the money on it. Do you think that the camera would slow down instead of keeping 24p constant for more that 30 secs of dialogue? Alex www.alexardenti.com
  23. Will definitely get a barney for the Bealieu. I am also in the great position of having a family friend who is the owner of a recording studio and he told me it shouldn't be aproblem eliminating unwanted camera noises. But yes, definitely a barney.. or two. What would happen if I just shot short takes at 24 p on the camera as is, without spending money on a new motor? Could it be that much off? Alex www.alexardenti.com
  24. Screen shots look pretty awesome. WHat film did you use and what proces was it? Looks a little cross processed, or was that a filter in Final Cut? alex www.alexardenti.com
